Monitoring air quality and health risks
The Air Quality and Health Risk Index informs the population about the state of air quality (good, acceptable, bad, very bad and extremely bad), also about the level of associated risk (probable damage to health, depending on whether the risk is low, moderate, high, very high or extremely high) and recommendations for actions to be taken (measures to reduce exposure); In other words, it is intended that the information received by the population does not only refer to air quality at a given moment, but also allows them to act with the opportunity to protect their health, which was specified in the objective of this Standard. (NOM-172-SEMARNAT-2019), without modifying the original purpose of the aforementioned Index.
